2nd and PCH EIR Comments and Responses

I've been reading through the City's responses to the comments sent to them in response to the RDEIR about the 2nd & PCH project.
The following site gives access to the FINAL EIR Report for the project; Part 1- 4 deals with the City's responses to the 177 comments sent to the Chief planner, Craig Chalfant
Carl Kirnbauer President of the Long Beach Marinas Boat owners Association, wrote a Letter in opposition on behalf of the Alamitos Bay Marina
tenants, which will be one of the many groups directly affected by this proposed project
The early section of Part 1 gives the City's standard responses to each major issue raised in the comments. If you read this part, you’ll get a
sense of what is going to be presented by them in the Planning Commission meeting on October 12,2011. In my opinion, this part of the report is a good example of weasel wording.
My concern, after reading through Part 1, is that the City folks who responded to the comments are clearly biased in favor of the project in spite of what seems to
be very strong opposition from the public who sent comments. Note comment #64 is a detailed criticism of the major parts of the REDIR; it's several pages long
but does give a good synopsis of the major problems with the project.
There are some positive comments in support of the project, but my thinking is that they
are from real estate professionals and others who would benefit from a large new source of condominiums.
